Mama

Everyday there is something I learn about in Haiti that breaks my heart.
Yesterday at the extremely nice orphanage (take that lightly because in America standards its uninhabitable) we were making bracelets and talking about colors. One of the little boys I was holding was really upset the whole day. When I had to leave he wouldn't let me go. Held on really tight. I just had to put him down because I had to get to my advanced english class to teach. He started screaming out mama!  Mama! This little one year old. And it just sort of shocked me. And I wished I could have just sat there the whole day comforting him.
On a different note I learned that orphanages in Haiti are more of a business than anything else. They all compete with each other to get stuff. The more kids you have the more funds an money you get. So a lot of orphanages "buy" children.
Carlos the one I was at today is a prime example of that. And that's why it is nicer because Carlo really knows how to run his business well. So dumb an corrupt. I really dont know how much more my heart can handle.
Also the owners of the orphanages send their children to private schools, wear nicer clothes, and aren't allowed to play with the orphans.
Baaaah.
